I am under the impression some parts with swap out with a Colt M1911 or Government Model type pistol. I'm fairly certain magazines, slide stops, and possibly barrels can be used.

A Ballester-Molina slide will fit loosely and function on a Colt or equivalent Argentine-made frame, but a Ballester-Molina frame is too wide to accept a Model 1911 slide. If this is correct, you would have to be willling to machine the slide of a conversion, which would then make it generally unsuitable for future use on a 1911.
