Coal India Ltd. Coal India Limited (CIL) the state owned coal mining corporate came into being in November 1975. With a modest production of 79 Million Tonnes (MTs) at the year of its inception, CIL today is the single largest coal producer in the world.
Jharia coal-field (JCF) is situated around 393 sq km, surrounded by latitude 23 0 49′0.63N and 23 0 38′36.50N and longitude 86 0 8′49.91 E and 86 0 25′54.92 E. The JCF is located towards the northeast part of the Jharkhand state of India, distanced around 260 km from the west sides of Kolkata.
